Lisa and I are a well matched team and we enjoy being in ministry together. We have been thinking about what we have to offer to organizations, institutions and churches in Asia in the coming few years.
  • We have substantial teaching gifts and bodies of core teachings with which we are able to serve various students, organizations and institutions.
  • We have substantial cross-cultural experience which helps us bring what we have to offer in a spirit of servanthood, mutual submission and learning, and cultural sensitivity.
  • We have an openness to raising support and a faith-filled expectation that God will help supply the resources for the calling he has given us.
  • We are past the point where we need to build a name for ourselves, a reputation or resume that will allow us to scale the next level of leadership or responsibility. We seek no tenure-track position, or key organizational leadership role, or speakers fees.
So we can offer what we have in settings that serve small numbers (double digits, not hundreds) of students, pastors, lay leaders, and organizational ministry leaders. They typically don't pay for our services or expenses, but they do help by providing housing for us in their ministry settings. We have a number of inquiries that we are trying to clarify, and the first few months of our time in Malaysia are already settled, with more possibilities in the pipeline for 2021 than we can reasonably say yes to. So we are eager to see how God will lead us, which doors he will open, and how he will be at work in us as we see him work through us.

Below is a list of teaching topics we used especially when we were serving students in the IFES during our year in Eastern Europe in 2014-2015. I have left these teaching topics up on this page because they are still available for us to teach from, but we expect that at least Lisa will be primarily teaching seminarians in homiletics, practical theology and related courses.

For the content of our teaching, much of it will relate to or directly use the books and curricula we have authored, which are listed and linked to on the publications list page on this site. Almost everywhere we go we will be teaching leaders or potential leaders and leadership development is central focus. But some of our  content is developed from unpublished Bible studies and other resources we have, and often shaped by the more specific needs of the ministries we will be serving, and that is listed below.
Topic
Story-Formed Families

Situational Leadership

Narrative Preaching

Women in Leadership

"Heaven is for Women"

Description
This seminar series builds a picture of parenting and family life shaped by the gospel narrative, by great narratives of fiction as shared together in family reading, and by being families that take gospel risks and experience missional adventure through shared ministry in cross-cultural settings.

Built off the insights of Paul Hersey, this seminar applies Situational Leadership principles to staff work and student ministry leadership development.

Lisa will distill some of her seminary teaching on homiletics for use with emerging preachers and evangelists.

Depending on the context, an apologetic for and a Bible study on the role of women in leadership, in scripture, in church history, and today. Resources for both men and women who want to release women into all the ministries for which they have been gifted by the Holy Spirit.

A look at the radically open, encouraging and empowering treatment of women in both the Old Testament and in the New Testament. Meant to empower women in Indian society, often coming out of Buddhism or Islam with very little sense of worth and significance.

We are trusting God to provide for our ministry needs through the contributions of friends, ministry partners and churches. We will bring some of these funds to the IFES groups, seminaries and other ministries we will visit in order to help support the events at which we will be speaking.
